Media Release
There have been exciting developments at Family Planning’s Whangarei clinic in recent months to improve access for the people of Northland.
The clinic now offers all-day drop-in clinics from Monday to Friday, as well as extended hours on Thursdays and appointments on the first Saturday of every month.
This has been made possible by expanding the nursing team, who can help you with a wide range of sexual and reproductive health issues, from information and advice about contraceptive options to STI testing and treatment, cervical screening, pregnancy testing and much more. You may even be eligible for STI self-testing – just ask the team at the front desk.
If you’re a New Zealand Resident and under 22 appointments are free. For Community Services Card holders appointments are only $5, and for other New Zealand Residents they are $32.
A new community liaison role has also recently been created at the clinic to build relationships in the wider Northland community and find new ways to provide services in hard to reach areas. The position is held by the clinic’s Nurse Practitioner, Laura Henderson, so if you have some ideas and want to collaborate or partner with Family Planning to expand services in the region contact Laura on (09) 438 1986.
